STREUNERPARADIES
MORE THAN AN ANIMAL SHELTER
Located on the Austrian-Hungarian border in Lafnitz Valley, Styria, Streunerparadies (the 'Stray Dog Paradise' association) has been taking care of neglected, abused and sick street dogs since 2013. Helmut and Brigitte Hirmann have been passionately running the Szentgotthàrd public animal shelter as part of 'Streunerparadies' since 2017, where they take in rescued dogs, rehabilitate them if necessary and place them in their 'forever homes'. Together with their employees and many volunteers, they look after between 120 and 170 dogs that live in their species-appropriate facility on an ongoing basis. But that's not all: they are also committed to providing help on the ground. With neutering campaigns, food donations and educational work, they help to actively improve the lives of strays.
